OCD Rules…

It plays out it’s chess game ten moves ahead,
Calculating each risk before it is said.
It analyses problems in seconds flat,
To make sure it wins every battle like that.

It never begins what it fails to complete,
And refuses to stomach a single defeat.
For everything here is a conflict or war,
Where I must come out as the victor once more.

It deals in hard facts that no argument shakes,
And covers all aspects to check for mistakes.
Running silently in the background, rigid and blind,
To keep everyone safe with the rules it designed.

When BPD shatters the peace in my mind,
OCD steps in with cold logic instead.
And if logic should fail, it invents a new law,
Spun out on the spot with no room for a flaw.

Once a compulsion is made, it must strictly be met,
With no room for debate and no terms of regret.
If left uncompleted, it niggles and nags,
Till my mind is worn thin and my spirit flags.

Every angle measured, every move exact,
Enforcing pure perfection in each coded act.
Where total precision is the only way,
And faultless execution rules night and day.

It strips all the grey till there’s only extreme,
A strict black or white with no room in between.
And any stray trigger can birth a new test,
A random ritual that gives no time to rest.

With willpower terrifyingly sharp and profound,
It locks down my memories far under ground.
Compartmentalised deep till they lose what is real,
Leaving me numb and entirely detached from how I feel.

While BPD runs so raw and intense,
OCD rules with a cold, iron sense.
With never a way to say no to demands,
The absolute ruler of all it commands.

I write unfiltered, raw and brutally honest poetry and prose on trauma, survival and living with BPD and OCD, which I’ve had since childhood.
